After the Typhoon

Here is a picture of the trench for the wall a few days before the typhoon came.

This one was taken on Friday, the morning after the typhoon. There is four feet of water in the trench in this picture. Everything looks pretty good above the water but we are not sure about below the water. Josh is working on getting a pump to de-water the trench so that work can start again early next week. The workers were unable to work on Thursday because of all the rain proceeding the typhoon. So they went home to see their families about seven hours away. So work will begin again, we hope, on Monday.

I just had to take a picture of this fat toad going for a swim in the trench. We were all laughing about how we have a swimming pool now. Looks like this guy took the joke literally.
Typhoon Chan-hom was a category 2 typhoon when it made landfall in northern Luzon. My very rough estimate is that the eye of the typhoon was about 300 km north of us. We experienced heavy rain and only a little wind. In the north there were eleven landslides, flooding and at least 25 people killed. There was also a lot of damage to homes, buildings and power lines. I am so thankful that the storm went to the north of us! We are praying for those effected by this storm. This was actually the second typhoon to hit the Philippines this week. The other one was also a category 2 and was named Dante. It went to the south of us and also caused landslides and killed 25 people also. We had not been checking on line to see if there were any storms coming earlier in the week so we just thought that we had a really rainy couple of days for no particular reason! After Dante left the Philippines it became a category 4 storm. I am pretty sure that it has died out by now. I think that we will be checking regularly to see if a storm is coming from now on! Thank you for all your prayers for our safety.
